China News Agency, Beijing, June 1 (Reporter Ruan Yulin) China's total fiber processing accounted for more than 50% of the world, chemical fiber production accounted for more than 70% of the world... As the world's largest textile industry, China's textile and garment industry is actively building a modern industrial system. Industry authorities pointed out that the green transformation of China's textile and garment industry has entered a critical period.
China's textile industry to meet the basic material needs of the people as a starting point, after market-oriented reform and international competition tempered, gradually developed the world's most complete industrial system, fiber processing and total exports for a long time ranked first in the world, in the international textile industry chain division of labor and supply chain system occupies an important position. Data show that in 2020, China's total fiber processing reached 58 million tons, accounting for more than 50% of the world's total fiber processing, and chemical fiber production accounted for more than 70% of the world.
Greenhouse gas emissions of China's textile and garment industry have gradually increased with the rapid development of the industry since 2000, and then entered a stable period. According to industry energy consumption data, in 2020, the total greenhouse gas emissions of the whole industry will be about 209 million tons. From the emission source, the greenhouse gas emissions of China's textile and garment industry mainly come from the upstream material manufacturing and processing end, including the textile industry and chemical fiber manufacturing industry, and the proportion of textile and garment industry is less than 10%.
According to a newly released report, China's textile and garment industry currently emits about 230 million tons of greenhouse gases annually. Industry carbon emissions account for about 2% of the country's carbon emissions, accounting for 2.8% of the country's industrial carbon emissions.
"The textile industry is an important livelihood industry and an environmentally sensitive industry. Promoting the green, low-carbon, circular and sustainable development of the textile industry is of great significance for cultivating new quality productivity, implementing the dual-carbon strategy, and realizing harmonious coexistence between man and nature." Zheng Yan, deputy director of the Consumer goods industry Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, said at the "2024 Climate Innovation and Fashion Summit" held in Beijing recently.
"The green development of the textile industry has become a climate." Sun Ruizhe, president of the China Textile Industry Federation, said that in 2021, the "Fashion Climate Innovation 30·60 carbon neutral acceleration Plan" will be launched, and a large number of leading enterprises and advantageous clusters will promote the implementation of carbon reduction work and work together to achieve the grand vision of zero carbon industry. Under the guidance of the dual-carbon goal, the industry has developed in an integrated way of "carbon reduction, pollution reduction, green expansion and growth", and has achieved remarkable results in technological innovation, product innovation, management innovation and model innovation.
Since the "13th Five-Year Plan", China's textile and garment industry has achieved significant results in energy saving and water saving, pollution prevention and control, and green manufacturing system construction, but at present, some textile enterprises still use traditional production processes with high energy consumption and high pollution.
"At present, textile enterprises have not completely gotten rid of the status quo of high energy consumption and high emissions. In order to reduce the carbon emissions of the textile industry, we should build a high-end, intelligent and green modern textile industry system from the aspects of textile fiber raw materials, distribution and consumption process, production and processing process and waste textile treatment." Xu Weilin, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and president of Wuhan Textile University, said.
Xu Weilin said that green and low-carbon involves every link of the textile industry chain such as fiber, spinning and weaving. The development of new green fiber materials can realize that chemical fiber raw materials can gradually get rid of excessive dependence on oil and achieve green sustainable development.
"We need to vigorously promote the high-end, intelligent and green textile industry," Lu Xinming, deputy director of the Department of Climate Change of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, proposed to promote the transformation and application of major low-carbon technologies, processes and equipment, and promote carbon reduction in the textile industry with technological process innovation and production process reengineering.
Lu Xinming said that supporting leading enterprises in the textile industry, playing a leading role in key areas such as supply chain integration and innovative low-carbon management, and running the green low-carbon concept through the whole process of product design, raw material procurement, production, transportation, storage, use, recycling and treatment. Promote technological progress in the textile field, increase research and development and promotion of green and low-carbon technology, deploy green and low-carbon frontier and key technology research as soon as possible, promote green and low-carbon technology to achieve major breakthroughs, and empower green with digital intelligence.
